User-Centric Joint Transmission in Virtual-Cell-Based Ultra-Dense Networks
نویسندگان
چکیده
In ultra-dense networks (UDNs), distributed radio access points (RAPs) are configured into small virtual cells around mobile users for fair and high-throughput services. In this correspondence, we evaluate the performance of user-centric joint transmission (JT) in a UDN with a number of virtual cells. In contrast to existing cooperation schemes, which assume constant RAP transmit power, we consider a total transmit power constraint for each user, and assume that the total power is optimally allocated to the RAPs in each virtual cell using maximum ratio transmission (MRT). Based on stochastic geometry models of the RAP and user locations, we resolve the correlation of transmit powers introduced by MRT, and derive the average user throughput. Numerical results show that user-centric JT with MRT provides high signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) without generating severe interference to other co-channel users. Moreover, we show that MRT precoding, while requiring channel-state-information (CSI), is essential for the success of JT.

On the Virtual Cell Transmission in Ultra Dense Networks
Ultra dense networks (UDN) are identified as one of the key enablers for 5G, since they can provide an ultra high spectral reuse factor exploiting proximal transmissions. By densifying the network infrastructure equipment, it is highly possible that each user will have one or more dedicated serving base station antennas, introducing the user-centric virtual cell paradigm. However, due to irregu...

Ambitious targets for aggregate throughput, energy efficiency and ubiquitous user experience are propelling the advent of ultra-dense networks. Intercell interference and high energy consumption in an ultra-dense network are the prime hindering factors in pursuit of these goals. To address the aforementioned challenges, in this paper, we propose a novel user-centric network orchestration soluti...
متن کاملDownlink Scheduling and Coordinated Transmission for CRE Ues with ABS in Ultra-Dense Networks
Ultra-dense network (UDN) is a promising way to address the high throughput demand in future radio access networks. However, the downlink inter-cell interference to user equipments (UEs) in dense small cell environment is a key problem restricting the wide application. Although cell range expansion (CRE) and almost blank subframe (ABS) cancel the interference from macro cells, they cannot deal ...
متن کاملModeling and Verification of Cooperation Incentive Mechanisms in User-Centric Wireless Communications
User-centric wireless networks are characterized by a community-scale objective aiming at the shared provision of user-generated services and contents. This may be contrasted by the reticence of individuals to share the limited resources of mobile devices. Hence, cooperation incentives play a key role to promote prosocial decisions and to isolate selfish nodes and cheating behaviors. In particu...

Resource allocation and interference management in wireless small cell networks have been areas of key research interest in the past few years. Although a large number of research studies have been carried out, the needs for high capacity, reliability, and energy efficiency in the emerging fifth-generation (5G) networks warrants the development of methodologies focusing on ultradense and self-o...
